 Guided London Walks

CityLondonGuideBadge

The Blitz in the City: surviving the bombs.

After the defeat of France in 1940, Britain stood alone against Nazi Germany. Soon bombing of the cities began, and one eyewitness walking through the City of London wrote: "The air felt singed. I was breathing ashes... The air itself, as we walked, smelt of burning." Our walk through the City recalls the dangers of those dark days and reveals some scars of the devastation, even after decades of repair and rebuilding.
