This walk takes us through east Twickenham, a village on the Thames with some fine 18th century houses, overlooked from Richmond Hill. The area has been the home of poets, musicians, courtiers, the last King of France and the inventor of the wind-up radio. On this walk see the country retreat of our finest painter, the film studio used for The Italian Job, London’s Rock ‘n Roll Island and a villa built for a king’s mistress.
