Westminster Abbey: explore the house of kings. (NB entry charge)
10th February 2024
The magnificent 13th century abbey church was built around the shrine of the royal saint, King Edward the Confessor. It is the grand venue for coronations and for centuries it was also the burial place of our monarchs. It has the earliest surviving meeting place for the commons from English Parliaments and displays memorials of many eminent people from our history. Discover here the tombs of the kings and their powerful vassals; “Here they lie had realms and lands, / Who now want strength to stir their hands.”
